        Deposition  B
Case of Louisa J. Fortner, No. 199154
On this 19th day of May, 1885, near Bull Run, County of Knox, state of Tennessee, before me, J. H. Horah, a Special Examiner of the Pension Office, personally appeared G. Julian York, who, being by me first duly sworn to answer truly all interrogatories propounded to him during this Special Examination of aforesaid pension claim, deposes and says:

        Age 25
        Occupation:  Farmer
Place of residence:  Near Bull Run, Tenn.
P.O. Address:  Powell's Station, Knox Co., Tenn.

        2.  Do you know Louisa J. Fortner, claimant?

        A.  I have known her for six or seven years; and have lived inside of three miles of her during that time.

        3.  Have you known her character for virtue and morality during that time?

        A.  I think I have.

        4.  What has it been?

        A.  Very good, I reckon.

        5.  Have you ever heard, during the past three years, that she has been guilty of any lewd or immoral conduct or kept a house of ill fame, or anything of that kind?

        A.  No, sir.  I think I would have heard it, if it had been so.  As far as I know, or have heard, I have not known or heard any thing wrong with her since I have known her.  I have been living in the same yard with her for 6 or 8 months and during that time her conduct has been proper.

        6.  Have you any interest in this claim, or any relationship or connection to claimant?

        A.  None.
